Dr Robert Farmer MB ChB 193 MRCGP

Dr Farmer

I moved to South Yorkshire when I came to study at Sheffield University in 1998. I did the majority of my hospital training at Barnsley Hospital and joined the practice in 1998, taking over from Dr Sagar who was retiring.

I have been a GP trainer since 2005, which means I am involved in the training and supervision of junior doctors as they train to be fully qualified GPs. This is challenging but rewarding work, and I think the practice as a whole benefits from its training practice status, as we strive to stay at the forefront of modern medicine, but without losing touch with the "art" of medicine, looking after the whole person and their family, rather than just the disease.

I like to think that this is a forward thinking practice. General Practice is constantly changing and we try to stay "ahead of the curve" in order to get the best possible services for our patients.

Outside of work I am married with 2 school aged children. In my free time I am a keen mountain biker, and love spending a day (or even an hour) out in the peak district.
